ANTHROPOLIS - Association of Anthropologists

aim is among others to create the opportunity of a widespread cooperation beetween Central-European anthropological institutes, academic or education departments, reaserch teams, civic associations and forth. With the planned CEAN PROJECT we would like to generate a common inter- or discoursion on the present state of being, issues, problems and perspectives of our discipline, giving chance to build up new research projects in cooperation, where us "neighbours" are involed. We think our countries face the issue of the challange of a new multicultural paradigm and the recent social and cultural process of European enlargement requires the cross-border scholarship partnership beetween the V4- Central-European nations.

One the distinguishing phenomena in the East-Central European region is the multicultural setting. Recent challenge for the anthropological research is the analysis of the adaptation techniques of different ethnic, religious and cultural groups to the situation of living together in a multicultural setting. Living together for several centuries produced such specific cultural relationships among the different ethnic groups which need to be studied thoroughly to be able to understand their cultures. This can be an even more important question in the waiting-room of the E.U. Changes in the way of life, in economic strategies, social and cultural problems in ethnic and religious identity, the questions of region appear as a complex problem in the researches.

Since the anthropology is a quite new phenomenon among the social sciences in the East-Central European countries the process of its academic legitimization could be easier if the concerned institutions will be able to organize the frames of a trans-national scientific cooperation. ANTHROPOLIS Association of Anthropologists present CEAN Project and IVF-application might be the first step towards the required aim.
